Frequently Asked Question

As a Jersey College student, you can install Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and Teams) for free while you are enrolled. You can install it on up to 5 of your own devices. Here is how to install it on a Windows PC or Mac.

1. Open a web browser and go to https://office.com.

1. Click "Sign in" and enter your FULL Jersey College email address (firstname.lastname@jerseycollege.edu), then your password. If a screen asks for a username without the @, use just firstname.lastname.

1. If you are asked to verify your identity, open Microsoft Authenticator on your phone and enter the 6-digit code it shows for your Jersey College account.

1. Once you are signed in to the Office home page, look for the "Install" or "Install apps" button near the top-right of the page.

1. Click it and choose "Microsoft 365 apps" (sometimes shown as "Office 365 apps"). A setup file will download to your computer.

1. Open the downloaded file (usually found in your Downloads folder) and follow the on-screen prompts. If your device asks for permission to make changes, click "Yes".

1. Wait for the installation to finish. This can take several minutes depending on your internet speed. Keep your computer on and connected.

1. When it is done, open Word (or any Office app), and when prompted, sign in again with your full Jersey College email and password to activate Office.

Tips:

• You must stay signed in with your Jersey College account for Office to remain activated for free.
• The free install covers 5 devices total, so you can mix and match computers, tablets, and phones.
• On a phone or tablet, install the individual apps (Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.) from your app store and sign in with your full Jersey College email instead of using a setup file.
• Your Office subscription stays active as long as you are an enrolled student.
