Frequently Asked Question
How do I connect to the campus Wi-Fi on my laptop or phone?
Last Updated 25 days ago
Getting online at a Jersey College campus only takes a minute. The steps below work for most laptops and phones. You will need the campus Wi-Fi network name and password, which you can get from the Help Desk or any staff member at your campus.
Before you start:
- Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on for your device.
- Have the campus Wi-Fi network name (the name you tap to join) and its password ready. If you do not know these, contact the Help Desk or ask at the front desk for the exact name and password to use at your location.
On a Windows laptop:
- Click the network icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen (it looks like a globe or a Wi-Fi signal).
- If Wi-Fi is off, click the Wi-Fi button to turn it on.
- In the list of networks, click the campus Wi-Fi network name.
- Check "Connect automatically" so your laptop reconnects next time, then click Connect.
- Type the Wi-Fi password when asked and click Next.
- Wait a few seconds. When it says "Connected," you are online.
On a Mac laptop:
- Click the Wi-Fi icon in the top-right menu bar.
- Turn Wi-Fi on if it is off.
- Click the campus Wi-Fi network name in the list.
- Type the Wi-Fi password and click Join.
On an iPhone or iPad:
- Open Settings, then tap Wi-Fi.
- Turn the Wi-Fi switch on.
- Tap the campus Wi-Fi network name in the list.
- Type the Wi-Fi password and tap Join.
On an Android phone or tablet:
- Open Settings, then tap Network & internet (or Connections), then tap Wi-Fi.
- Turn Wi-Fi on.
- Tap the campus Wi-Fi network name in the list.
- Type the Wi-Fi password and tap Connect.
Tips:
- Some campus networks open a sign-in page in your browser after you connect. If a page appears, follow the on-screen instructions or sign in with your Jersey College username and password when asked. (Your username is firstname.lastname, without @jerseycollege.edu.)
- Wi-Fi passwords are case-sensitive. Type it exactly, including capital letters.
- If you connected before but it stopped working, "forget" the network in your Wi-Fi settings and join it again with the current password.
- Wi-Fi network names and passwords can differ by campus or building. Always confirm the correct ones with the Help Desk or front desk if you are unsure.
