Set up your Jersey College email in the Outlook desktop app (Windows and Mac)

This guide shows you how to add your Jersey College email account to the Microsoft Outlook desktop app on a Windows PC or a Mac. You sign in with your FULL email address and your Jersey College password.
Before you start:
- Your full email address is your username plus @jerseycollege.edu (for example, firstname.lastname@jerseycollege.edu).
- Your email password is the same one you use for Microsoft 365 and Canvas.
- Make sure the Outlook desktop app is installed. (Students can install Microsoft 365, including Outlook, for free from https://office.com while enrolled.)
On a Windows PC:
- Open the Outlook app from the Start menu.
- If this is the first time you have opened Outlook, it will ask for an email address. Type your full Jersey College email address and click Connect.
- If Outlook is already set up with another account, click File, then Add Account, then type your full Jersey College email address and click Connect.
- When the password box appears, type your Jersey College password and sign in.
- If prompted, approve the sign-in with your Microsoft Authenticator code (your MFA).
- Click Done. Outlook will begin downloading your mail, which can take a few minutes.
On a Mac:
- Open the Outlook app from the Applications folder or the Dock.
- If this is your first time, Outlook will ask you to add an account. Type your full Jersey College email address and click Continue.
- If Outlook is already open with another account, click the Outlook menu at the top, then Settings, then Accounts, then the plus (+) sign, then New Account. Type your full Jersey College email address.
- Enter your Jersey College password when asked and sign in.
- If prompted, approve the sign-in with your Microsoft Authenticator code (your MFA).
- Click Done. Outlook will start syncing your mail.
Tips:
- If you are using the newer "new Outlook" for Windows, the layout looks a little different: click the gear (Settings) icon, then Accounts, then Add account, and follow the same prompts.
- If your password is not accepted, confirm you are typing your full email address (with @jerseycollege.edu) in the email box, not just your username.
- If you recently changed your password, use the new one here.
- If Outlook keeps asking for your password in a loop, close and reopen the app, or restart your computer, then try again.
