Frequently Asked Question

Take an ATI proctored assessment
Last Updated 25 days ago

A proctored ATI assessment (for example, a content-area assessment or TEAS) is an exam that has to be unlocked before you can begin. Your proctor or instructor provides the assessment ID or proctor information that unlocks it at exam time. This article walks you through getting ready, starting the exam, and what to do if you get disconnected.

Before you start:

  1. Use a desktop or laptop computer when possible, with a current, updated web browser.
  2. Connect to a stable internet connection. A wired connection or a strong, reliable Wi-Fi signal is best.
  3. Close other programs and browser tabs so nothing interrupts your exam.
  4. Make sure your device is plugged in or fully charged.
  5. Have your ATI username and password ready. If you've forgotten your password, reset it before exam day at https://www.atitesting.com using the link to recover your username or password.

Start the proctored assessment:

  1. Go to https://www.atitesting.com and sign in with your ATI username and password.
  2. Wait for your proctor or instructor to tell you it's time to begin. Do not start early.
  3. Open the proctored assessment from your ATI home page when instructed.
  4. When prompted, enter the assessment ID or proctor information exactly as your proctor or instructor gives it to you. This unlocks the exam.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to begin, and work through the questions as directed.

If you get disconnected during the exam:

  1. Don't panic. ATI is designed to save your progress as you go.
  2. Tell your proctor or instructor right away.
  3. Check your internet connection and reconnect if needed.
  4. Sign back in at https://www.atitesting.com and reopen the assessment. In most cases you'll be able to resume where you left off.
  5. If you can't get back in, your proctor or instructor can help re-open the assessment for you.

Tips and warnings:

  • The assessment ID, proctor ID, or proctor password always comes from your proctor or instructor at exam time. The Help Desk cannot provide these.
  • Do not refresh the page or click the browser's Back button during the exam unless instructed; that can interrupt your session.
  • If you're testing at home, choose a quiet spot with the most reliable internet you have.
