Frequently Asked Question
You can change or reset your Jersey College password yourself. Your password is the same for Microsoft 365 (email and Office) and Canvas, so changing it once updates everything. Use whichever option fits your situation.
Option 1 - I know my current password and just want to change it:
- Go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com and sign in with your full email (firstname.lastname@jerseycollege.edu) and your current password.
- Click "Change password."
- Enter your current password, then your new password twice, and submit.
Option 2 - My password isn't working or I forgot it (reset):
- Go to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/?whr=jerseycollege.edu
- Enter your full email address (firstname.lastname@jerseycollege.edu) and complete the CAPTCHA.
- Verify your identity using the method Microsoft offers - for example, approve the request in the Microsoft Authenticator app.
- Enter your new password, then type it again to confirm, and submit.
After you change your password:
- Use your NEW password everywhere: email (https://outlook.office.com), Office.com, and Canvas.
- Canvas can take about 5 to 10 minutes to sync the new password - if it doesn't work right away, wait a few minutes and try again.
- Update the password on your phone and in any apps so they stop using the old one.
