Frequently Asked Question
How do I download and install Examplify on my Windows or Mac laptop?
Last Updated 25 days ago
Examplify is the secure exam app you'll use to take your nursing exams. You install it once, ahead of exam day, on the same laptop you plan to test on. Please don't wait until the morning of your exam to do this.
Before you start:
- Use a real Windows or Mac laptop (not a Chromebook, iPad, tablet, or phone). Examplify only runs on full Windows and macOS computers.
- Make sure your laptop's operating system (Windows or macOS) is up to date so Examplify is supported.
- Connect to a reliable internet connection and plug into power.
- Close other open programs before you begin.
Download and install on Windows:
- Open your web browser and go to the Examplify download page your instructor or exam coordinator gave you. Jersey College has its own download page, so use the link they provide. If you don't have it, ask your exam coordinator or the Help Desk.
- Click the download button for the Windows version. A setup file saves to your Downloads folder.
- Open your Downloads folder and double-click the Examplify installer file.
- If Windows asks "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?", click Yes.
- Follow the on-screen prompts, click Install, then click Finish when it's done.
- Examplify will appear in your Start menu. Open it once to confirm it launches.
Download and install on Mac:
- Open Safari (or your browser) and go to the same Examplify download page your instructor or coordinator provided.
- Macs come with one of two processor types: Intel or Apple Silicon (also called ARM, or M1/M2/M3). Jersey College does not supply or manage Macs, so yours could be either one - and you may not know which. If the page offers a choice, try the INTEL download first.
- The file ends in .dmg or .pkg and saves to your Downloads folder. Double-click it.
- Drag the Examplify icon into your Applications folder, or follow the installer prompts.
- If your Mac warns that the app was downloaded from the internet, or asks for your Mac password, allow it and enter the password you use to log in to your Mac.
- Open your Applications folder, double-click Examplify, and confirm it opens.
- If the Intel version will not install or will not open, come back and download the ARM (Apple Silicon) version instead, then install that one. One of the two will be right for your Mac.
Tips:
- Install Examplify on the exact laptop you'll use for your exam, not a friend's or a lab computer.
- If you get a new computer or reinstall later, you'll need to register again (see the article on registering and downloading an exam).
- On a Mac, if Examplify behaves oddly after installing, the most common fix is to uninstall it and install the other processor version (Intel vs Apple Silicon).
