Frequently Asked Question

How do I fix the most common Examplify problems (won't download or launch, frozen, upload failed, forgot exam password, low battery or Wi-Fi)?
Last Updated 25 days ago

Here are quick fixes for the Examplify problems nursing students run into most. Try these calmly, in order. For anything during a live exam, also contact your exam coordinator right away.

Examplify won't download or won't install:

  1. Confirm you're on a real Windows or Mac laptop, not a Chromebook, tablet, or phone.
  2. Connect to reliable Wi-Fi and plug into power.
  3. Restart your laptop and try the download again.
  4. Make sure you're using the correct download link from your coordinator or the Help Desk.
  5. On Windows, click Yes if it asks to allow changes. On Mac, allow the app and enter your Mac password if prompted.

Examplify won't open or won't launch:

  1. Close Examplify completely, then reopen it.
  2. Restart your laptop. This clears most launch problems.
  3. Close other heavy programs (video, browsers with many tabs) before opening Examplify.
  4. If it still won't open, reinstall Examplify using the install article, then sign in again.

My exam won't download into Examplify:

  1. Make sure you're signed in and on the internet.
  2. Confirm your instructor has actually released the exam. If it's not in your list, it may not be released yet.
  3. Try clicking Download again, or close and reopen Examplify and retry.

Examplify froze or my screen is stuck mid-exam:

  1. Don't panic. Your answers are being saved as you go.
  2. Wait a full minute, since it may just be thinking.
  3. If it's truly frozen, force your laptop to restart by holding the power button until it turns off, then turn it back on.
  4. Reopen Examplify and choose to resume the exam. You should be able to continue where you left off.
  5. Tell your proctor or exam coordinator immediately so they know what happened.

I got "upload failed":

  1. Reconnect to strong Wi-Fi.
  2. In your exam list, click the exam and choose Upload or Resume Upload.
  3. Wait for the green "uploaded" confirmation.
  4. Do NOT delete the exam from Examplify. The file is still on your laptop as a backup.
  5. If it keeps failing, contact the Help Desk and your coordinator right away so your exam isn't marked late.

I forgot or don't have the exam password:

  1. The exam password comes from your instructor or exam coordinator, not the Help Desk.
  2. Contact your instructor or coordinator to get it. The Help Desk cannot give you an exam password.

Low battery or weak Wi-Fi:

  1. Always plug into power for the entire exam. Don't rely on battery.
  2. Sit close to your router, or use the most reliable connection available.
  3. Close other devices or downloads that are using your Wi-Fi during the exam.
  4. If your battery is low and you have no charger, find power before starting, since losing power mid-exam can interrupt your work.

General good habits:

  • Restart your laptop before every exam.
  • Take a practice exam early so problems show up before test day.
  • Keep your charger with you.
