Frequently Asked Question

If your Jersey College account is locked, you can usually get back in using the Microsoft self-service tool. (Too many wrong password attempts is the most common cause of a lock.)

How to unlock your account:

1. Open a web browser and go to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/?whr=jerseycollege.edu
2. Enter your account: your full email address, firstname.lastname@jerseycollege.edu, and complete the CAPTCHA.
3. Verify your identity using the method Microsoft offers - for example, approve the request in the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
4. Choose to unlock your account, or reset your password (resetting your password also unlocks the account).
5. Follow the prompts to finish.

After unlocking:

• Try signing in again at https://outlook.office.com with your full email and password.
• If you reset your password, remember it's the same password for Microsoft 365 and Canvas; Canvas can take about 5 to 10 minutes to sync.
