Frequently Asked Question
Step 1: Check If Your Computer Can Run Windows 11
- Open a browser and go to:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11#pchealthcheck - Scroll down and click “Download PC Health Check App”
- Install and run the app
- Click “Check now”
- If it says “This PC can run Windows 11”, you’re ready to upgrade!
Step 2: Back Up Your Files
Before upgrading, save your important files so you don’t lose anything.
What to Back Up:
- School documents (Word, Excel, PDFs)
- Photos and videos
- Downloads
- Desktop files
Where to Find Them:
- Documents: This PC > Documents
- Pictures: This PC > Pictures
- Downloads: This PC > Downloads
- Desktop: This PC > Desktop
How to Back Them Up:
- OneDrive: Right-click files → Move to OneDrive
- Google Drive: Go to https://drive.google.com → Upload files
- USB drive: Plug in → Drag and drop files
Step 3: Upgrade to Windows 11
Option 1: Windows Update (Easiest)
- Click the Start Menu
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update
- Click Check for updates
- If you see “Upgrade to Windows 11 is ready”, click Download and install
- Follow the prompts and restart your computer
Option 2: Installation Assistant
- Go to: https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11
- Scroll down to “Windows 11 Installation Assistant”
- Click Download Now
- Open the file and follow the instructions
Step 4: Install Examplify 3.9 (If Needed)
If you are required to take exams using Examplify, you’ll need to install version 3.9 on your upgraded Windows 11 device.
Minimum System Requirements:
- Operating System: Windows 11 (64-bit), version 23H2 or 24H2
- Processor: Non-ARM-based CPU
- RAM: 4 GB or more
- Storage: 4 GB of free space
- Language: English (United States) Language Pack must be installed
- USB Port: Required for backup (may need an adapter)
- S Mode: Not supported (must switch to standard Windows mode)

Extra Tips to Prevent Issues
Before You Upgrade:
- Plug in your laptop
- Make sure your internet is stable
- Free up disk space (64 GB minimum)
- Disable antivirus temporarily if needed
After You Upgrade:
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all updates
- Restart your computer
